SUMMARY:Indoor Flying at National Building Museum
DESCRIPTION:This is the LAST annual flying event at the National Building Museum coordinated by our friends at the DC Maxecuters club and is a special treat not-to-be-missed! \nThe morning starts with glider building for the children\, and then open flying under the incredible soaring ceilings in the main hall! \nThe public is welcome\, as are children\, free flight\, rubber powered\, and micro-radio control planes. \nFor more details check out these sites: \n \nDC Maxecuters \nNational Building Museum \n  \nFamily Events\nBUILDING OF MOUNTAIN LIONS with families – session 1 (9:30 – 10:30) \nMountain Lion Flying in East Court (10:30 – 11:00) \nBUILDING OF MOUNTAIN LIONS with families – session 2 (2:30 – 3:30) \nMountain Lion Flying in West Court (3:30 – 4:00) \n  \nFREE FLIGHT FLYING EXPOSITION 11:00 – 4:00 East Court \nRADIO CONTROL FLYING EXPOSITION   10:00 – 3:30 West Court \n4:00 Modelers packed up to leave \nFREE FLIGHT FLYING EVENTS (11:00 – 4:00)\nMass Launch Events: \n12:00 WW-II No-Cal – 6 g. minimum weight without rubber\n1:00    Dime Scale – FAC Rules\n2:00    Phantom Flash – FAC rules – plastic prop – ROG \n3:00    Zaic Z-15 (a simple tissue covered model) or Z-15 Derived models (airplanes of Z-15 configuration but re-engineered for ease of construction) – plans on D.C. Maxecuter website \n  \nTimed Events (to be flown throughout the day 11:00 to 4:00): \nLimited Pennyplane – We are using the AMA rules. \nA-6 – sample plans and rules on Maxecuter web site. \nNo-Cal – 6 g. minimum weight without rubber \nZaic Z-15 and Z-15 Derivations \nTechnology Science Association Models – rules on Maxecuter web site. \nFF NOTES:\n– Airplanes that have won twice before at the National Building Museum cannot further compete and must be retired to exhibition and fun flying only.\n– Certificates can be awarded to those who have exceeded one minute in flight or have risen above the 4th floor catwalk and safely returned to the floor.\n– Youth fliers should check in at the head table to be instructed in the flying protocol for indoor flying (clear the floor after launching; no running; don’t pick up another’s model).\n– The use of steering poles is prohibited. \nRC FLYING EVENTS: (10:00 – 3:30)\n–  Most Beautifully Crafted Non-ARF Foam Model to complete a figure eight.\n–  Most Beautifully Crafted Non-ARF Balsa-Tissue Model to complete a figure eight. \nFree style flying between activities. \nSend Glen Simpers a note before 2/28/19 if you are helping with the 1st family build and those entering before the building officially opens.  Your note should include all names in your party and have names as they appear on your driver’s license.  There are a very limited number of parking spaces in the staff parking lot.  All others are to park in the nearby streets.  All other modelers should enter the building when it opens at 11:00. \nGlen Simpers\, grfreeflight@hotmail.com\, 301-843-2896
