SUMMARY:Poplar Ford Closed until 2:30pm for County Planting Work
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 19th from 10 am to 2 pm the county will have a big planting event at Poplar Ford. They are planting about two thousand native herbaceous plant plugs (not trees) in the meadows surrounding the flying field. There will be at least two dozen volunteers and the parking spaces will be crowded in addition to many people in the overfly areas. \nThe field will be closed for flying until 2:30 to give the volunteers to safely be out of the overfly areas. \nYou are welcome to join for the rare plant planting too! There are no requirements\, except to bring working/garden gloves\, water and snacks for yourself\, and to be willing to get dirty. If you want to join in\, please send an email to jonathan.pruett@gmail.com before Wednesday Feb 16 so I coordinate headcount with the county lead and plan tools and work flow accordingly.

DESCRIPTION:In our new FPV format\, we are going to dedicate the second Sunday of each month as an FPV Field Day at Poplar Ford Field. Fixed wing line of sight RC activities are still permitted\, but need to give way for FPV fixed wing or multi-rotor activities which can include setting up race gates on the runway. \nOn these FPV Field Days\, all NVRC members wishing to fly fixed wing line of sight are welcome to use the Lorton Field – even if you do not have the normal Lorton membership tag on your badge.
